About Us
Peter Andreas Meier (1954 – 2001) was born and raised in Zürich. In 1976 he married Yvonne Häubi and had their first-born child Peter. The birth of Peter gave them a positive outlook in life.

After a year, their second son Chrigel was born. In 1981, the Meier family relocated from Zurich to Hinter Tersana in Seewis im Prättigau and managed farming.
Peter and Chrigel grew up with various animals such as cattle, swine, horse, sheep, caprine, poultry, rabbits, cats, and dogs. During Summer they helped their parents with haymaking in an old-fashioned way without any machine. In Winter they enjoyed Hinter Tersana all by themselves for skiing.

Their father, Peter Andreas, utilized the Maiensäss as it was intended. He moved the cattle to the Maiensäss and fed them inside the barn at the onset of each winter. There was even a time when he had to shovel snow for three days straight to clear a path for the cattle.
The mountain hut is an integrated part of Maiensäss. It has served as a recreational for families and hunters for countless years.

After the death of Peter Andreas, Yvonne with the help of her older Son, Peter continued farming for almost 20 years.
Peter married Joanne Ecat from the Philippines in 2015. After a year, Joanne with her son Terence migrated to Switzerland and lived in the farm. During this time, Yvonne had cows, chickens, sheep, cats, and the dog named Samira.
When Mami Yvonne retired in 2018, she entrusted the haymaking of the land to a young farmer from Conters, who managed it for five years. Each summer, he brought his cattle to Hinter Tersana, further enhancing the beauty of the landscape. One of the notable cattle was Trillbi, a 20-year-old cow that spent its final summer in Hinter Tersana. Now, the land is managed by a farmer from Serneus. His sheep add to the land’s beauty, particularly during the summer months.
The renovation of Maiensäss began at the start of Covid-19 pandemic. Joanne and Peter worked together from the concrete job, installing of power cable to interior designing. Their friends Max and Grischa Bastler generously helped in installing new Solar Panel and the reconstruction of the Kitchen.
The concept of renovation is simply to have a practical, and cozy accommodation in nature available for a day to a two-week stay.
Hinter Tersana offers a magnificent mountain scenery, and tranquility. With its size of around 20-hectare meadows and forest, the mountain hut is indeed isolated and only accessible via a private road; therefore, privacy is guaranteed. It has its own source of spring water, and the electricity comes from a photovoltaic system.
Maiensäss Hinter Tersana welcomes guests who enjoy a quiet and relaxing break from the daily routine in a rustic and humble place. Its secluded location is good for one’s retreat.
Meier family opened the newly renovated Maiensäss Hinter Tersana last October 2022.
